Insider’s Guide to Nightlife in Ginza
In a famously posh district of Ginza, where everything tends to be expensive, lies a unique bar where you can indulge yourself without worrying about the bill.
How would you like to walk into a pub at the heart of Ginza where everything is available for only 300yen?
The place is called the 300 BAR.
Located just a few minutes from Ginza station, a rather inconspicuous bar would go unnoticed if you are not paying attention.
One step into the pub, you will be asked to purchase tickets, each worth 300yen. Minimum 3 tickets. Or you can buy 11 for the price of ten. Tickets have no expiry date. Everything in the menu is 300yen. Beers, wines, cocktails, whiskeys, appetizers, pizza, chorizo and much more.
After you get the tickets, you order what you want at the bar counter.
People start coming left and right past 6pm.
Before you know it, it is jammed with people coming out of the office, curious international visitors, singles and small groups.
Some people are just chilling over a drink, some chat in their groups, some look for a chance encounter.
In a culture where reticence is considered a virtue, normally the Japanese do not converse with strangers.
That cultural norm does not apply to the 300 BAR.
People just congregate around the counters and start chatting and mingling.
Whether you are looking to quench your thirst in the summer heat, or just looking for an easy hangout, the 300 BAR is highly recommended.
