Initiatives for the Earth's Future
Eco-Friendly Cleaning Services
In order to protect the global environment, we have implemented eco-friendly cleaning options for guest rooms. We encourage long-stay guests to forgo full room cleaning in favor of only changing the linen, replenishing amenities, and disposing of garbage, etc.
Elimination / Reduction of Plastic Products
We are working to reduce the volume of plastic products being discarded by using refills for shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, and eliminating plastic straws and plastic bags.
Campaign to Fully Use Up Toilet Paper Rolls
We are using stickers on the toilet paper to encourage guests to fully use up toilet paper rolls before starting a fresh one, and we also use rolls that are not fully used-up in the staff restrooms to reduce waste.
Water-Saving Shower Heads
We are working to reduce water consumption by installing Mirable shower heads in guest rooms. These shower heads can save anywhere from 15 - 60% compared to a regular shower head.
LED Lighting and LED Panels
We are steadily replacing old lights with modern and more efficient LED lighting. This not only reduces the power consumption necessary for the lights themselves, but also reduces the power consumption needed for air conditioning since they emit less heat.
Local Community Activities (beach and community cleanups)
As part of activities to protect the beautiful beaches of Okinawa, our staff members clean Tiger Beach in front of our hotel every day during the summer season, and we also participate in regular community cleanup efforts that clean more than 15 beaches in the Onna Village area.
Water-saving Measures during Food Thawing and Equipment Cleaning
We strive to conserve water by accurately planning when food needs to be thawed, and by using water stored in sinks during equipment cleaning, thus reducing the volume of running water we use.
Food Loss Initiatives
We are working to reduce food loss at the breakfast buffet by measuring the amount of food wasted and then setting waste reduction targets, which can be achieved by better predicting the amount of food that needs to be prepared and served.
Promoting the Use of Eco-Friendly Chopsticks
We provide eco-friendly chopsticks with an antibacterial coating in the breakfast area. Disposable chopsticks are also available upon request.
Conversion to a Paperless Office
We are working to reduce deforestation, and contribute to the prevention of global warming, air pollution, and water pollution by digitizing internal documents and promoting a paperless office environment.
Introduction of Cogeneration Systems
In order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a cleaner global environment, we have implemented cogeneration systems (combined heat & power systems) in some of our hotels whereby gas fuel is also used to generate electricity, thus making more efficient use of the energy produced.
Use of Expiring Food Products
We strive to reduce food loss by proactively using food ingredients with limited time to expiration, and also accepting vegetables and other products that are outside of regulated specifications (for size, shape, etc).
Reduction of Food Loss through Recycling
By converting waste products from the cooking process into fertilizer, we aim to reduce food loss and contribute to recycling efforts.
